MDE is in Rionegro, on the eastern side of the Medellín metro area. Here is how to decide whether to go direct, connect through Rionegro or abandon sightseeing and rest.

Do not make the geography harder than it is

If Guatapé is next, traveling into Medellín first may add a detour. Compare direct/private transport against the public connection through Rionegro.

• How late can your Guatapé property receive you?
• Do you have checked luggage?
• What happens if the flight is delayed?
• Are you actually energetic enough for La Piedra after flying?

If immigration, weather or delays destroy the plan, remove the sightseeing component. Getting to the right bed is more important than “winning” arrival day.
